About Hospital
Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital has a rich history, having now served the KwaZulu-Natal community for a milestone 130 years.
All we do is centred around providing personalised care to meet the unique needs of each of our patients, in an environment where their dignity is respected and they receive compassionate care.
With 469 beds, 16 operating theatres, advanced medical technology, and some 140 highly skilled and experienced specialists practising at our facility, our commitment remains to consistently provide the best and safest care and achieve the best possible clinical outcome for each patient.
In 2022, we implemented a state of the art electronic medical record system, CareOn, developed by Netcare together with international technology leaders. This system automatically records all clinically relevant data on each patient’s unique electronic medical record. Doctors and healthcare teams can remotely view their patients’ information in real time, enabling them to always make informed treatment decisions.
Our 24 hour emergency department with accredited Level 2 trauma centre is complemented by an on-site helipad and a Netcare 911 base.
Other specialised facilities include a bariatric centre, cardiac renal dialysis, transplant, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy units, a fertility laboratory, radiology and pathology services. Our in-hospital retail pharmacy dispenses prescription and over the counter medicine to the public.
